Makhachkala's center is without power due to a fire at a substation
More than 85 thousand residents of the center of Makhachkala were left without electricity after a fire at the Novaya substation. The authorities promised to complete restoration work today.
As "Kavkazsky Uzel" wrote, in Makhachkala the power may be out for several hours to several days, local residents stated on July 25. At the same time, power engineers refer to the abnormal heat.
Residents of Makhachkala regularly complain about problems with electricity and water supply. On July 13, they expressed indignation in connection with the long-term absence of water supply in their homes: people are forced to buy bottled water, and appeals to the authorities have not yielded results. Officials explained the interruption in water supply by repair work.
The central streets of Makhachkala were left without power - the Juma Mosque area, Askerkhanov, Yaragsky, Irchi Kazak, Imam Shamil, Nakhimov streets and others. Emergency recovery work is ongoing and will be completed during the day, the Makhachkala mayor's office reported today, explaining the outage by "a technological violation at the Novaya substation".
The Ministry of Energy and Tariffs of Dagestan reported that about 86.5 thousand people were left without electricity in the central part of Makhachkala due to a cable fire at the substation, caused by an excessive load on the power lines.

During the first hours, power engineers managed to restore power supply to more than half of the previously de-energized consumers, damaged cables are being replaced, Dagenergo reported in its Telegram channel.
