Ella Pamfilova holds Dagestani leader responsible for violations during elections
When commenting on the results of the trip to Dagestan, Ella Pamfilova, the chair of the Central Election Commission (CEC), has placed full responsibility for the elections in the regions on the leaders of the subjects of the Russian Federation.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that after the elections held on September 18, 2016, Ella Pamfilova called Dagestan as one of the most problematic regions.
"During the election campaign, the Russian CEC got 111 complaints expressing great dissatisfaction by the actions of local administrations and the inaction of the law enforcement bodies. At present, unfortunately, a criminal case has been instituted only at one episode of violations, although many episodes contain administrative and criminal offences," noted Ella Pamfilova during the meeting of the Russian CEC held on March 1 when commenting on the visiting meeting in Dagestan.
Ella Pamfilova has emphasized that the Central Election Commission "will consistently consider the complaints about violations and address the Prosecutor's Office and the Investigating Committee of the Russian Federation (ICRF)".
"According to the available information, after our visit, investigating actions in a number of districts of the Republic of Dagestan were intensified. I would like to note that the leaders of the subjects of the Russian Federation are fully responsible for the way of holding the elections in the regions," stated Ella Pamfilova as quoted in the report published on March 1 on the website of the Russian Central Election Commission.
Ella Pamfilova has also noted that the Russian CEC assesses "the quality of the elections" in Dagestan as held "at the lowest level."
