Family with many children from Kalmykia goes to court in seek for shelter from state

The Supreme Court (SC) of Kalmykia has dismissed the complaint filed by a female resident of the republic, excluded by the administration of Elista from the number of participants of the programme "Affordable Housing for Young Families" in connection with the fact that the woman celebrated her 35th birthday. The complainant intends to file a cassation appeal.

Lawyer Nadezhda Teleeva, who represents the interests of plaintiff Nigmyara Tagieva, believes that "the constitutional rights of the Tagiev family members have been grossly violated."

According to the lawyer, the Tagiev family members became participants of the programme in 2012. "They underwent registration procedures every year and submitted all the necessary documents. Meanwhile, in 2016, they were excluded from the number of participants of the programme, since the spouses celebrated their 35th birthdays," the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was told by Nadezhda Teleeva.

"The website of the programme states that the expected result for Kalmykia is to 'improve the living conditions of more than 1500 young families.' It turns out that the actual objective of the programme is not reached, but the figures show a positive dynamics. In Moscow, nobody will examine the reason why people drop out of the line, whether they have received subsidies or they have been excluded from the list under one pretext or another," explained Nadezhda Teleeva. The lawyer has also expressed her hope that the programme "will raise interest of public organizations and anti-corruption committee."

The lawyer has emphasized that her clients intend to file a cassation appeal and, if necessary, to go to the Constitutional Court.
