PFPA member detained on suspicion of disobeying police

In Baku, Nidjat Nizamov, member of the Youth Committee of the Popular Front Party of Azerbaijan (PFPA) was detained on charges of disobeying the demands of the police.

The "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was told by Gezyal Bairamly, the Deputy Chairman of the PFPA, Nizamov was taken away from home on January 9 to the 30th station of the Surakhani District Police Department. The PFPA believes that the activist is persecuted for political motives.

According to Nizamova, Nidjat's wife, the court session of the activist will take place on Tuesday.

"Recently, Nidjat has spread in social networks a lot of materials about the trial on the so-called 'Nardaran case', which tell about torture of defendants and violation of elementary procedural norms at the trial," Ms Bairamly said.

Let us remind you that on November 25, 2016, Islam Sakhiboglu, a member of the Youth Committee of the PFPA, was accused of disobeying police and sentenced to 30 days of arrest.
