Figurants in case of secret video filming released in Georgia
Three former employees of the Department of Constitutional Security of the Georgian Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA), arrested for videoing private life of a number of Georgian politicians, have been released after expiry of the term of pre-trial detention.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the former high-ranking officials of the above Department were arrested on charges of distributing the videos on April 10, 2016.
The video footage of the intimate life of one of Georgian politicians were posted on the YouTube on March 11; and on March 14, another similar video appeared on the Internet, containing the demand to some politician to stop their activities.
January 7 is the deadline for the 9-month period of detention, imposed as a freedom restriction measure of Ramaz Shiukashvili, Irakli Kipshidze and Gigla Shioshvili, accused of secretly recording and storing records depicting privacy. Since the consideration of the case on the merits by the court is not over, the court has set them free, pending the final judgement, the "Georgia-Online" reports.
