Since early 2016, 12 people killed in shootouts in Khasavyurt District and neighbouring districts of Dagestan
Since the beginning of 2016, an armed clash in the Novolak District has become the sixth shootout between law enforcers and militants in the territory of the Khasavyurt District and the neighbouring Districts of Dagestan. As a result of those six shootouts, one law enforcer and 11 persons declared militants or their supporters were killed, and two law enforcers were wounded.
On December 31, 2016, law enforcers cordoned off a house in one of the villages in the Novolak District. Then, today, it has been reported that during the special operation, two militants were killed and two law enforcers were wounded. Both killed suspects were members of the Khasavyurt militant grouping, and one of them was identified as Anvar Gadjiev, reports a source from the law enforcement bodies.
On December 29, 2016, according to law enforcers, one policeman and two militants were killed in a shootout in Khasavyurt. Killed Eldar Akamov and Islam Malachev were members of the Khasavyurt militant grouping, report law enforcers.
On December 23, 2016, in Khasavyurt, a policeman asked a man to stop to check his ID. However, the man opened fire and was killed by return fire.
On November 3, 2016, in Khasavyurt, law enforcers wanted to stop a car to check driver's documents, but people opened fire from the car. According to the National Antiterrorist Committee (NAC), four militants were killed in the course of the shootout. The killed suspects were involved in attacks on law enforcers and cases of extortion of money from entrepreneurs. The killed suspects were identified as Khamzat Khakiev, Mukhamad Makhmudov, Ibadula Baidullaev, and Mikhradj Movludinov.
On October 21, 2016, a shootout occurred in the village of Stalskoe of the Kizilyurt District. As a result, two people were killed. According to law enforcers, one of them was a former member of the "Khasavyurt" militant grouping, and the other killed man was an accomplice of militants.
On February 12, 2016, in the forest in the Khasavyurt District, law enforcers discovered a militant camp and entered a shootout with the militants. Law enforcers then reported on cordoning off four militants. However, later, the law enforcement bodies just reported that the counterterrorist (CTO) legal regime, introduced there earlier, was lifted. Meanwhile, the law enforcement bodies did not disclose if someone was killed or wounded in the shootout.
