Sochi: over 3000 people commemorate victims of Tu-154 crash
Today, the participants of mourning rally in Sochi have honoured the victims of the Tu-154 aircraft crash with a minute of silence and laid mourning wreaths and flowers at the edge of the sea pier. Residents and visitors of the city continue bringing flowers to the chapel at the airport.
There were 92 persons on board: 64 performers of the Alexandrov Ensemble, nine journalists, eight servicemen, eight crew members, two civil servants and Elizaveta Glinka, a member of the Presidential Human Rights Council. So far, they have found 12 bodies of the victims.
According to organizers, the mourning action involved over 3000 people, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reports.
Invitations to the rally were spread among people who know each other by means of SMS messages, Sochi residents have reported.
Many people are still present on the seashore in Adler, where the search operations are underway.
According to local residents, on December 26, commemoration actions were held at all the beaches of the city. People came out onto the beaches, lit candles and threw wreaths into the sea.
The Sochi Mayoralty has cancelled traditional celebrations in Flag Square in front of the Mayoralty on the New Year's Eve, its press service has reported.
