Houses in Baku settlement flooded

Several dozens of private households in the settlement of Bina, a part of the Khazar District of Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan, have been flooded after prolonged rains.

The flooding was caused by the absence of any drainage and sewage system in the settlement, said Rafig Gasanov, the head of the expeditionary detachment for geological planning of the Services of National Geological Survey of the Azerbaijani Ministry of Ecology.

According to his story, the groundwater, the level of which went up after heavy rains, has flooded land plots and basements of dozens of private houses.

"In some places, water has gone up to 25-30 cm above the land surface," the APA reports, quoted Mr Gasanov as saying.

The exact number of people affected by the flooding is not reported.
