Exhibition of international project "We are only on the side of peace" opens in Makhachkala
The works of Dagestani painters, who take part in the international project "We are only on the side of peace", bring the idea of accord, solidarity and rejection of war. The exhibition in Makhachkala will last for a month.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the international project "We are only on the side of peace" is held for the second time. Its author is the Turkish painter Vedat Calik. Among the works, there is surely at least one performed by a child.
The exhibition was opened on December 16 in the Centre of Ethnic Culture. It presents 33 works by 23 painters; 18 of them are from Dagestan, said Patimat Guseinova, the curator of the Dagestan segment of the project and the artistic director of the Centre of Ethnic Culture.
For Dagestan, such an exhibition is really relevant, said Ruslan Lugovoy, a Deputy of the Soviet District of Makhachkala. According to his story, a special success of the project is that it attracts young people.
Among the works that caught attention of spectators is the painting "Interrupted Happiness" by a young Dagestani painter Amina Kabulaeva, depicting children's silhouettes against black background of cracked glass. The work is dedicated to children-victims of terror acts and wars, said the author.
