Court arrests FSO General detained in Sochi
Today, on November 26, the court has pronounced the decision to arrest Gennady Lopyrev, the chief of the North-Caucasian Department of the Federal Protective Service (known as FSO), who was detained in Sochi on suspicion of taking a bribe on a large scale.
Let us remind you that on November 25, it was reported that Gennady Lopyrev was detained in Sochi after an internal FSO inspection of its units in the Caucasus and then taken to Moscow. He is accused of taking a bribe on a large scale (Part 6 of Article 290 of the Russian Criminal Code). According to an advocate of General Lopyrev, the case is related to the official activities of his client. Meanwhile, according to the defender, Gennady Lopyrev pleaded not guilty.
Today, the 94th Moscow Garrison Military Court has granted the motion filed by an investigator with a request to pronounce against Gennady Lopyrev the pre-trial restriction measure in the form of taking into custody until January 23, 2017 (inclusive), the "Interfax" reports with reference to the Court's decision.
