Activists in Yerevan stand against abusing women
Today, the coalition "Against Abusing Women" has organized a march in Yerevan within the campaign against gender violence.
The marchers went from the Yerevan State Architectural University along central streets to the Pedagogical University. Activists urged not to use violence against women.
The event was organized within the 16-day-long campaign against gender-based violence, which was launched today. Until December 10, the campaign will hold discussions and give lectures at the American University, organize concerts and performances, and screen films, Zara Ovannisyan, the coordinator of the above coalition, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.
She noted that the gender stereotype, existing in the Armenian society, leaves women outside political, economic, educational and other important processes in the country. "Since the formation of socially active and responsible citizens takes place in universities, we decided this year to dedicate a number of activities to young people," Ms Ovannisyan added.
