Outcomes of unique polling: Dagestani youth becomes more conservative
A large part of the Dagestani Muslims is focused on education, career and values hard labour, while young people are more conservative in their religiosity. These are the findings of the expert analysis, prepared specially for the "Caucasian Knot" on the outcomes of the poll conducted, in particular, among readers of the "Caucasian Knot".
The survey has polled 3105 people, of whom 1675 have fully completed the questionnaire, which made the basis for the analysis. The sampling had about 70% of men and 30% of women.
Among the findings, the researchers noted that fact that a significant part of values of Dagestani Muslims are universal and irrelevant of the age bracket or religious affiliation. The most common are the values typical for the modern world, the researchers assert.
According to their data, the respondents value generally highly the education, orientation towards career advancement, honest work and civil activeness. At the same time, the researchers note that Dagestani Muslims are intolerant to those whom they consider bearers of social vices – alcoholics, homosexuals and drug addicts, but otherwise they are notable for their high tolerance, in particular, to ethnic differences.
The researchers have concluded that the legal culture of Dagestani Muslims has its certain specificities compared both with typical standards of western countries, and with typical Russian ones. The rule of law (based both on the secular law and on the Sharia) is not an unconditional value for the Dagestani Muslims, the scientists have concluded.
