23 Volgograd residents respond to call to help paralyzed invalid

The humanitarian organization named "Social Independent Inspection" has organized help to Pavel Sklyarov, a disabled person; 23 citizens have already helped him with foodstuffs and money. After the start of the action, the authorities have provided him with a special orthopaedic bed and suggested him a new treatment.

Five years ago, the 23-year-old Pavel Sklyarov fractured his backbone and became Category I invalid. After a surgery, he lived since September 2012 in the Zhirnov boarding house for invalids. Now, Pavel lives with his mother in a two-room house located in the territory of the former railway station in the Gorodische District of the Volgograd Region.

Alexei Ulyanov, the head of the above humanitarian organization, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that he got acquainted with Pavel Sklyarov in early November by accident. The invalid called him by mixing up the phone number.

Then, on November 10, Ulyanov posted a call inviting to help the invalid in his blog on the LiveJournal.

According to Ulyanov, social workers and doctors recollected Sklyarov after the spread of the call to help him; and, in particular, after the fact was covered by local media.

At the same time, Alexei Zavrazhin, the deputy chairman of the committee for social protection of population of the Volgograd Region, said that he Sklyarov and his mother had refused from social services.
