AI announces return to its Moscow office
The Russian Office of the international human rights organization "Amnesty International" (AI) will return to its Moscow office. This was reported by Sergey Nikitin, the head of the AI's Russian Office.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on November 2, the AI's staff members could not get into the office in Moscow, since they found it sealed. At the premises, the locks were changed and the electricity supply was cut off. The AI has denied any accusations of failure to pay rent.
According to Sergey Nikitin, the AI and the Moscow Department of Property came to the conclusion that the office was sealed because of a technical error committed by officials of the Department of Property. The AI has no debts on rent.
The international human rights organization "Amnesty International" is engaged in drawing attention to violations of human rights in different countries. The AI criticized the human rights situation in Russia, including in the south of the country.
