Police release Makhachkala protesters

The four persons, detained during the protest action demanding resignation of the Mayor of Makhachkala, have been set free from the police.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that today in Lenin Square a rally was held demanding resignation of Makhachkala Mayor. There were about 250 protesters; and policemen detained at least three of them, said the protesters. They expressed their indignation about the mass poisoning with drinking water of Makhachkala residents, and about a strike of shuttle taxi drivers.

According to Fatina Ubaidatova, the press-secretary of the Republic's Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA), a total of four protesters were detained today in Lenin Square; they were taken to a police station.

She added that all the four were released after drawing up protocols against them on administrative offenses under the article of "disorderly conduct" (petty crime), the "Chernovik", a Dagestani weekly, reports.
