Sochi residents accuse developers of using tactics of "scorched earth"
In Sochi, at the gathering, tenants of the houses located in Lysaya Gora Street have claimed that developers use the tactics of "scorched earth" to build multi-apartment buildings instead of single-storey houses of local residents living there for a long time. Evgeny Skubu, a representative of the tenants, has complained of arson and demolition of his house by developers.
According to the organizers, 50 people have come to the gathering. They claimed that the developers and tenants of newly-constructed buildings "violate the rights of the old residents of the street to safe environment." Thus, the single-storey houses were deprived of fire entrances and sunlight.
Local residents pointed out to the fact that a house built by a developer "has no water line, sewerage system, and electricity and heat supply lines." All communications are connected to the old houses and networks, and that creates serious problems for the old residents.
The "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was told by the local residents that following the results of their gathering, they made a decision to appeal to the City Prosecutor's Office.
Tenants of the single-storey houses in Lysaya Gora Street have added that developers construct houses without approval of the fire-fighting service.
Earlier, it has been reported that legalization of illegally constructed buildings through Sochi courts has put one of the Sochi villages on the brink of ecological disaster.
In Sochi, according to Alexander Boichenko, the chief of the Sochi branch of the Moscow Bar Association, developers "often use strategy to legalize illegally constructed buildings through courts."
