Organizer of Krishna event fined in Taganrog
Igor Gaivoronsky, a resident of Taganrog, is fined for holding a religious ceremony, declared as "promotion of healthy way of life." The court found a public event held by the Krishnaites as "carrying a substantial threat to the public interest."
On June 22, on the Day of Memory and Grief, in front of the monument to Peter I, Krishnaites of Taganrog and their colleagues from Bataysk, Novocherkassk, and other cities of the Rostov Region held an action with singing mantras, dancing, and selling religious books of Krishna followers.
The organizers of the event declared that they would hold an "event to promote a healthy way of life based on spiritual values," reports the "donnews.ru".
The Prosecutor's Office has filed against Igor Gaivoronsky a case under Article "violation of prescribed order of organizing or holding a meeting, rally, demonstration, march, or picket." The Taganrog City Court has sentenced Igor Gaivoronsky to an administrative penalty in the form of a fine of 10,000 roubles, the "Ersh. Taganrog" reports.
