Judge Makhach Aliev calls criminal proceedings against him a provocation

The criminal proceedings against federal Judge Makhach Aliev are not of political nature, and they are not connected with his brother Mukhu Aliev, the first president of Dagestan. This opinion was voiced by Dagestani journalists Gadjimurad Sagitov and Milrad Fatullaev. The Judge himself, who is suspected of taking a bribe, says he treats the actions of the investigating authorities as an "adventure."

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that according to investigators, Makhach Aliev, Judge of the Soviet District Court of Makhachkala, a brother of Mukhu Aliev, the first president of Dagestan, demanded from the mother of a defendant to pay him 500,000 roubles for lenient sentencing.

According to Makhach Aliev, five years ago, "there was an attempt to fabricate a criminal case against him."

Milrad Fatullaev, the editor-in-chief of the agency "Derbent", has noted that the Aliev brothers "were not involved in any serious conflicts at the political arena in Dagestan." Milrad Fatullaev associates the criminal proceedings against Judge Makhach Aliev "with activities of the investigating authorities."
