Marcher dies after self-immolation in Yerevan

Kadjik Grigoryan, who committed self-immolation as a sign of protest at the march organized by supporters of the "Sasna Tsrer" group, has died today from his burns.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on July 30, during the march of supporters of the "Sasna Tsrer" (Daredevils of Sassoun) group, who at that time were still holding the captured building of the police regiment in Yerevan, one of the protesters committed self-immolation. Policemen managed to extinguish the fire; and the man was hospitalized.

The victim was Kadjik Grigoryan; he received burns to 55% of his body surface, and 15% of his upper respiratory tract, Norair Davidyan, the head of the Scientific Centre for Radiation Medicine and Burns, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

"Today, the patient began suffering from intoxication of the whole organism and blood sepsis at the background of the second phase of the burn disease," he said.

These burns were incompatible with life, and Grigoryan has died, doctor Davidyan has concluded.
