Head of Volgograd village pickets building of regional GUVD
Today, Vasily Degtyarev, the head of the village of Loznoe of the Dubovka District of the Volgograd Region, has held a picket in front of the building of the regional GUVD (District Interior Department). The picketer demanded to pay attention to the situation in his village. According to him, the local police put pressure on opponents of the head of the Dubovka District.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Alexander Lyashenko and residents of the village of Loznoe, supporting Vasily Degtyarev, the head of the village, had a conflict because of the problem with flooding of local households. Vasily Degtyarev initiated the clearing of the channel of the local river; however, Alexander Lyashenko appealed a complaint to the Prosecutor's Office, since the cleaning was carried out without the project documentation. Vasily Degtyarev and a group of local council deputies resigned, and then Vasily Degtyarev returned to the office.
According to Vasily Degtyarev, after the situation with the river, the local residents collected signatures in his support. He reports that the people receive phone calls warning them not to take part in the rallies in his support, and on June 29, the police started to question people.
Anna Arefkina, Director of the House of Culture of the village of Loznoe, reports that she was questioned by a police officer at the village. According to her, "it is a deliberate persecution of people and the whole village."
