HRC chairman treats searches at "Union of Don Women" as unjustified

Members of the Presidential Council on Human Rights (HRC) have expressed their concern about a search conducted in the office of the non-commercial organization "Union of Don Women". The human rights defenders treat the above search as an attempt to put into question the implementation of the Minsk agreements. This was stated by Mikhail Fedotov, the chairman of the HRC.

"The organization (the "Union of Don Women", – note of the "Caucasian Knot") is headed by Valentina Cherevatenko, who is an expert of our board and who works in our working group in Ukraine," reports Mikhail Fedotov.

Let us remind you that the search at the office of the "Union of Don Women" was held on June 24.

According to Mikhail Fedotov, the HRC members treat the actions of the Investigating Committee of the Russian Federation (ICRF) as "absolutely unfounded." "We treat them as an attempt to frustrate the efforts of women's organizations of Russia, Ukraine, and the Donetsk and Lugansk People's Republics (DNR and LNR, respectively) on civil support of the Minsk process, an attempt to put into question the implementation of the Minsk agreements," states the HRC chairman as quoted by the RIA "Novosti".

Mikhail Fedotov has also noted that at the office, law enforcers seized "documents related to the alleged foreign funding of the organization and the implementation of the project to support leaders of initiatives in Northern Caucasus," the Radio Station "Liberty" reports.
