During Ramadan, believers repair roads near mosque
Believers of the Makhachkala mosque "Ikhlas" have announced an action to clean and improve quarters adjacent to their mosque. During Ramadan, the holy month for Muslims, believers are going to reconstruct roads, set lamp posts for lighting, and lay asphalt.
The "Caucasian Knot" correspondent has been told by Ibragim Makhtibekov, the imam of the mosque, the month of Ramadan will become for believers of Makhachkala "a month full of activities for charity and creativity."
"We have started the reconstruction of the roads around the mosque. We've covered four quarters. We will lay asphalt, make layout, and arrange lighting. The idea was initiated during one of the voluntarily actions on Saturdays, when we realized a lot of problems in the neighbourhood. Our guys took the initiative. They said: 'Let's do that oin a large scale, at our own expense.' The administration has been notified of our initiative, and we sometimes ask them to send workers from the water service company to help us. We purchase pipes at our own expense. During the holiday of Eid al-Fitr, approximately on July 1, we will hold the opening. We will invite the head of the administration of the Kirov District and other officials. We will show that the mosque has started to export some culture in the city," said Ibragim Makhtibekov.
