Explosion of tower in Dagestan results in broadcasting interruptions
Yesterday, militants managed not only to mine a relay tower in the Shamil District, but also to blow it up, said a law enforcement source. In the tower's coverage area cellular communication is absent; and interruptions in TV broadcasting are observed.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that a relay tower in the Shamil District was mined on May 24. Militants had first mined the tower, and then shelled a police unit; none of the policemen was hurt, said law enforcement sources.
There are also no casualties and victims among civilians, the Shamil District Administration reports. "There are no social and residential premises near the venue of the incident; nobody was hurt by it," a source from the administration told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.
According to a regional law enforcement source, the militants who blew the tower up "managed to escape in the forested mountainous locality."
