Eight locals leave village of Kenkhi, Ramazan Djalaldinov reports
Ramazan Djalaldinov, who on April 14 published a video appeal to Vladimir Putin concerning the situation faced by residents of the Chechen village of Kenkhi, announced no intention to leave Russia. He has also reported that after him, eight other persons dissatisfied with the situation in Kenkhi left the village.
In his video appeal to Vladimir Putin, posted on YouTube on April 14, Djalaldinov told that residents of the Avar village of Kenkhi cannot, without paying huge bribes, receive compensations for their destroyed housing, and the good teachers are "squeezed out" of the village by withdrawing their salaries.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that a large-scale campaign was organized against Ramazan Djalaldinov, as a result of which he and his family members were forced to leave for Dagestan. It was reported that at night on May 12, his house in the village of Kenkhi was burnt down. On May 16, local residents reported that the village of Kenkhi was cordoned off by law enforcers who demanded to reveal the whereabouts of Ramazan Djalaldinov. And it became known from Dagestan that on May 15, unidentified persons attempted to kidnap Ramazan Djalaldinov in Dagestan.
Ramazan Djalaldinov states that he is engaged in the fight for the rights of the Kenkhi villagers.
"I do not regret anything. I believe I will be able to achieve something. Although my family members have already started to persuade me to 'leave it as it is and not to go against Kadyrov,' I say that I don't touch Kadyrov. I'm just fighting for our rights," said Ramazan Djalaldinov in his interview to the "Novoe Delo", published on its website on May 21.
According to Ramazan Djalaldinov, recently, eight persons left the village of Kenkhi because of the situation there.
"One of them called me and said: 'Ramazan, I left not because of you. I just could not stand it anymore.' There are eight of them. They are 30-40 years old; and many of them have children. People say that before leaving the village, they told the village head: 'We're leaving the village because of you and not because of Ramazan'," Ramazan Djalaldinov told journalists.
