Detentions

On May 20, two residents of Makhachkala and Derbent were detained on suspicion of illegal transportation and possession of ammunition. In Makhachkala, inside a VAZ-217030 car driven by a 27-year-old local resident, policemen found a fuse from a grenade and several rounds of automatic firearms. In Derbent, law enforcers detained a 35-year-old local resident. During the personal search of him, they found and seized ammunition of automatic firearms and about 18 grams of marijuana.

On May 21, in Ingushetia, law enforcers detained four local residents, allegedly members of an underground unit associated with the international terrorist organization "Islamic State" (IS) (banned in Russia by court, a note of the "Caucasian Knot"). The law enforcers also seized three ready-to-use improvised explosive devices (IEDs), grenades, Kalashnikov submachine guns, and pistols with silencers, including foreign-made ones, and more than 2 million rounds of small arms. The detainees were not active members of the armed underground, but only accomplices and ideologues of various ideas.
