In KBR, people mark Circassian Memorial Day with march and rally

In the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic (KBR), the events dedicated to the 152nd anniversary of the end of the Caucasian War, were held with enhanced security measures. A lot of law enforcers were accumulated at the places of the events, and the entire city centre was closed for vehicles.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the mourning events dedicated to the Day of Remembrance of Victims of the Caucasian War (the Circassian Memorial Day) are held annually in Kabardino-Balkaria, Karachay-Cherkessia, and other regions on May 21.

Unlike previous years, people arranged a memorial feast this year. In the square near the monument to "Circassians, victims of political events of 1753-1864", women from the villages of Islamei, the town of Nartkaly, and other villages cooked national Circassian dishes. Anyone could come and taste food.

After speeches, people performed dua, a memorial prayer, and a moment of silence was announced. Then, people took part in the ceremony of laying flowers to the monument.

According to Khasan Tkhazeplov, the editor of the magazine "Literary Kabardino-Balkaria", the activities related to the end of the Caucasian War are aimed to ensure that "young people will know their history and understand the historical significance of self-preservation of the nation."
