Sports fans are losing interest in marathon "From Heart to Heart" in Chechnya

The third international marathon run "From Heart to Heart" in Chechnya has attracted about 2,000 participants – significantly less than in previous years. Due to active participation of professional athletes in the marathon, it becomes less interesting for amateur runners.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on May 16, Chechnya held the third international marathon run "From Heart to Heart", which was won by Sergey Popov, a resident of Novovoronezh.

In 2015, the marathon "Heart to Heart" was attended by over 10,000 participants; in 2014, the number of participants was about 15,000, said the Committee for Sports and Tourism of Chechnya.

The marathon winner was awarded a Hyundai Solaris car; the second and third prize-winners received 200,000 and 100,000 roubles, respectively. According to the above Committee, the top ten runners included representatives of a number of Russian regions, but there were no residents of Chechnya and the neighbouring republics of Northern Caucasus among them.

Let us note here that the annual run marathon from the mosque "Heart of Chechnya" in Grozny to the mosque named after Aiman Kadyrova in the city of Argun is held since 2014. Any person may take part in it; the length of the route is about 16.5 km.
