Experts treat people involved in fight at cemetery as infantry of criminals

Natives of Northern Caucasus, who have fallen under the influence of Moscow criminal leaders, are involved in the conflict as ordinary "foot soldiers". This opinion was expressed by experts interviewed by the "Caucasian Knot". According to them, young natives of Northern Caucasus are trying to realize themselves in Moscow against the backdrop of high unemployment in their native republics.

It has been reported that on May 14, a mass fight involving 200-500 people occurred at the Khovanskoye cemetery. As a result, three persons were killed, and 26 others were wounded. Natives of Chechnya and Dagestan are suspected of the organization and involvement in the fight, reports a source from the law enforcement bodies.

According to Sergey Goncharov, President of the International Association of veterans of anti-terror unit "Alfa", "funeral business in Moscow is very profitable."

He believes that the natives of Northern Caucasus involved in the fight "were mostly poor young people who came to the Russian capital to find a job."

In most cases, criminal leaders use natives of Northern Caucasus "as a strike force." This opinion was voiced by Gennady Gudkov, a FSB Colonel in the reserve, and the former Deputy Chairman of the Russian State Duma Committee on Security.

Senior officials from the Chief Department for Moscow of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) took the situation at the Khovanskoye cemetery under their personal control. This was noted by Sultan Togonidze, the head of the working group on harmonization of interethnic relations of the public council at the Chief Department for Moscow of the Russian MIA and the Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Russian Congress of Peoples of the Caucasus.
