Physicians assess condition of three persons injured in Grozny as extremely grave

In Grozny, the attack on a checkpoint involved an improvised explosive device (IED) of high power. This was reported by the Chechen Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA).

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that today, two armed men attacked a checkpoint in Grozny. It was initially reported that one of the attackers committed a suicide bombing and as a result, one policeman was killed and four others were wounded. The second attacker was killed by the policemen. Later, the Chechen Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) denied the report about the death of the policeman and reported on six injured policemen.

According to the police, physicians assess the condition of three out of six policemen injured in the attack on the checkpoint near the village of Alkhan-Kala in the Grozny District as extremely severe.

"All the injured policemen were wounded by shrapnel. The IED of high power was activated by one of the suicide bombers," the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was told by an official from the Chechen MIA.

The MIA's official has noted that at the checkpoint located near the Zavodskoi District of Grozny, the personnel include MIA's officers from Bashkortostan detached for service in Chechnya. Till present, the victims of the explosion have not been identified.
