Policemen shelled in Dagestan

This morning, in a forest of the Khiv District of Dagestan, a group of policemen was shelled, local law enforcement bodies report.

According to the press service of the Dagestani Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA), nobody has suffered in the incident.

According to law enforcement source, policemen found a dugout with small firearms, ammunition, foodstuffs and clothes of members of some illegal armed formation (IAF), after which the policemen were shelled.

"Unidentified attackers opened fire on policemen in a forest near the dwelling settlement of Chere. During a shootout, the attackers managed to escape; their search is now underway," the "Interfax" quotes its source.

The area of the special operative actions is cordoned off; the search for suspected militants continues.
