Nagorno-Karabakh accuses Azerbaijan of mortar shelling

Last night, the Azerbaijani party violated the ceasefire agreement, by using, in particular, calibre 82 mm mortars, the Ministry of Defence (MoD) of the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic (NKR) has stated. The Armenian MoD has also reported shelling of the border by Azerbaijan.

According to the MoD, last night from the Azerbaijani party, the positions of the NKR's Defence Army were shelled by various small firearms.

On May 2, in the conflict zone, active movements and concentration of Azerbaijani militaries were observed, says the website of the NKR's MoD.

At night on May 3, Azerbaijan violated the ceasefire also in the north-eastern sector of the border with Armenia, the Armenian MoD has reported. According to its data, the shooting was mostly disorderly from various-calibre small firearms.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on May 2, Edvard Nalbandyan, the Armenian Foreign Minister, stated that Azerbaijan was accumulating its military equipment and manpower along the whole contact line with Nagorno-Karabakh.

Let us remind you that on May 2, the NKR's MoD reported a relative calmness in the conflict zone during the last 24 hours and only individual shots, mainly from small firearms, from the Azerbaijani side. The Armenian MoD accused the Azerbaijani party of shelling the border. In its turn, the Azerbaijani MoD accused the Armenian party of 112 ceasefire violations.
