Bashir Pliev granted new minivan
A new minivan was given to Bashir Pliev, a resident of Ingushetia, who in March was transporting journalists and human rights defenders in the region and together with them fell victim to an attack. The minivan will be insured, notes Igor Kalyapin, the leader of the "Committee for the Prevention of Torture".
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the attackers burned down the car belonging to Bashir Pliev. On March 15, activists announced the collection of money for rehabilitation of Bashir Pliev and for purchasing a new car for him.
On his Facebook, Igor Kalyapin wrote that the new minivan "is exactly the same as the older one, but even better." Besides, the driver has also received money for further tuning of his new minivan.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the amount of 1.5 million roubles for purchasing a new minivan for Bashir Pliev was collected during one week. However, this money was not enough to buy a vehicle, similar to the one he had, and to provide medical treatment for the man himself.
After the online fundraising action, Moscow hosted a charity concert to help Bashir Pliev. Besides, according to Sergey Smirnov, the organizer of the fundraising action, the editor-in-chief of the "Mediazona", the online wallet continued to receive money.
