Action in support of Nagorno-Karabakh was about 50 people strong
Yerevan has hosted a protest action against territorial concessions and deployment of peacemakers in the Karabakh conflict zone. According to organizers, about 50 persons took part in it. Their march in Yerevan passed without incidents, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reports.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that at night of April 2, the situation in the Karabakh conflict zone was escalated. The parties to the conflict were engaged in combat actions with the use of tanks, multiple launch rocket systems, and aircrafts, which resulted in a large number of victims. On April 5, the sides to the conflict declared a truce; however, they periodically accuse each other of violation of agreements on ceasefire.
The "Ayazn" Party has stated a continuous nature of its protests against territorial concessions and the deployment of peacemaking forces in Nagorno-Karabakh.
"We can't admit surrender of any territories, because it will equal to betrayal of national interests of Armenia," Armen Mkrtchyan, a member of the board of the "Ayazn" Party, said in his interview to the "Caucasian Knot".
We can state the establishment of a new status quo, beneficial for Azerbaijan, who took control over new positions in the conflict zone. The change of the contact line threatens a new escalation, because the party that has grasped the territory will be motivated to resume the warfare – these are the findings made by the "Caucasian Knot" based on the information announced by the parties to the conflict.
