In Yerevan, protesters demand to release Levon Airapetyan
In Yerevan, the protest action in support of Levon Airapetyan has been completed. The activists handed over to the Russian Embassy a letter demanding to release the businessman, who was sentenced by the court in Moscow to four years of imprisonment in the case of a fraud. The protesters have threatened the authorities with continuation of their protest actions.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that about 100 people gathered in Republic Square for the protest action "Freedom for Levon Airapetyan". The activists claim that Levon Airapetyan is being prosecuted for his charity activities, in particular, in Nagorno-Karabakh.
Levon Airapetyan is one of the ten richest members of the Armenian Diaspora in the world and a major investor of Nagorno-Karabakh. His arrest caused a great resonance in Armenia and Nagorno-Karabakh.
Let us remind you that since October 2014, Levon Airapetyan was under house arrest because of the weak state of his health, and in September 2015, he was released on recognizance not to leave.
On April 15, Levon Airapetyan is being kept at the Butyrskaya prison in Moscow, and his advocate has filed an appeal against the sentence, the "Armenpress" reports.
