Court leaves persons accused of killing Nemtsov under arrest
The Appellate Board of the Moscow City Court (MCC) has upheld the decision of the court to extend the term of arrest of the defendants in the murder case of Boris Nemtsov until May 28.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on March 1, the MCC decided to extend the arrest of Zaur Dadaev, Anzor Gubashev, Khamzat Bakhaev, Shagid Gubashev and Tamerlan Eskerkhanov until May 28. Their advocates have announced their intention to appeal against the decision. On March 3, the Dadaev's defence filed an appeal against the decision to extend his arrest.
The appeal complaints against the decision of the MCC was lodged by the advocates of the five defendants; the presented as the arguments, in particular, the "lack of evidence of the involvement of their clients in the murder, and the absence of arguments and grounds for keeping them in custody; that they have dependent minor children and elderly relatives; and weak state of health."
The representative of the investigation has stated that "the grounds for keeping the defendants in custody have not disappeared and have not changed; and therefore the freedom restriction measure cannot be changed."
