Azerbaijan confirms ceasefire agreement

Parties to the conflict in Nagorno-Karabakh have agreed to the ceasefire and the search for the bodies of victims to be carried out today starting from 2:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Moscow time. This was reported by the Azerbaijani Ministry of Defence (MoD).

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that an official of the Nagorno-Karabakh Defence Army reported that the parties to the conflict agreed to the ceasefire for today starting from 2:00 p.m. Moscow time and the simultaneous search for the bodies of victims. No comments regarding the above statement were made by the Azerbaijani side.

On April 7, the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) reported that it has started negotiations with the parties to the Karabakh conflict concerning the exchange of bodies of killed soldiers and civilians, as well as prisoners of war.

The agreement on the ceasefire has been achieved under the mediation of the Office of the Personal Representative of the OSCE Representative of the International Committee of the Red Cross, reports the press service of the Azerbaijani MoD.

According to the MoD, today, starting from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. local time (2:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Moscow time), it is planned to search for bodies of killed soldiers and civilians, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reports.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on the basis of the information announced by the parties to the conflict, it is possible to talk about the appearance of new status quo, which is beneficial for the Azerbaijani side. However, the change of the contact line threatens new escalation, since the party which has taken control over the new positions is motivated to resume hostilities.
