Court violates Sergey Zirinov's rights, appointed advocates assert
In Rostov-on-Don, the court violates the right of Sergey Zirinov and other defendants to qualified legal assistance. This was declared by officially appointed advocates.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Sergey Zirinov and his suspected accomplices Eduard Paladyan, Karnik Aslanyan, Anastas Tilgerov, Amar Suloev, and Evgeny Aleksandrovich are accused of acts of banditry, murders, and illicit arms trafficking. Starting from August 13, 2015, the trial in the case is being held by the North-Caucasian District Military Court in Rostov-on-Don.
The judge postponed the trial until April 12 and asked the defence to use this time "to get prepared and submit a complete list of written evidence."
Earlier, the court has granted a week for consultations with appointed advocates to Sergey Zirinov and Anastas Tilgerov. However, the defendants claimed they had not enough time to for communication with their advocates, and the court hearings were postponed for other several days.
The law does not provide any limit for the postponement of court hearings in criminal cases; however, reasonable time for the case consideration should be observed, notes advocate Tumas Misakyan.
The stage of presentation of evidence by the defence "may seriously affect the final conclusion of the jury," the advocate believes.
