In Volgograd, public activists criticize newly created association "Congress for System Development"
According to organizers of the "Congress for System Development", it is to combine NCOs and the people well-known in the region to solve social problems. Activists have questioned the effectiveness of association of deputies, officials of the executive authorities, and NCOs.
About 200 NCOs were invited to the meeting to be held on April 5 and dedicated to the creation of the "Congress for System Development", the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was told by Sergey Korovin, an organizer of the event, the leader of the autonomous NCO "Protection of Your Rights".
"TOCs (territorial public self-administrations) in distress because of the crisis," human rights organizations, and organizations involved in social projects and charity were invited to the meeting.
Participants of the meeting have signed an agreement that provides for "cooperation between the signatories in addressing urgent social and citywide problems, creating a unified platform for dialogue between the authorities and the society, and promoting projects and activities of the congress participants."
The number of public figures, who refused to sign the agreement, included Valery Kotelnikov, Chairman of the board of the regional branch of the All-Russian Society for Protecting Historic and Cultural Monuments, Anatoly Karman, the head of the Public Charity Foundation "Tsaritsynskaya Muza", Viktoria Sopoleva, co-Chair of the public organization "People's StroControl", and other activists well-known in the region.
