Investigators ask to place Marem Alieva’s husband behind bars

The investigating bodies have put forward a petition to the court asking to place the husband of Marem Alieva, a disappeared resident of Ingushetia, into custody. This was announced by Vitaly Zubenko, a lawyer from the project "Legal Initiative in Russia", who is representing the victims’ interests.

The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that Alieva's husband was detained on January 21, 2015, within the criminal case, opened under the attributes of the crimes provided for by points a and g, Part 2, Article 126, and Part 2, Article 139, of the Russian Criminal Code (kidnapping and violation of inviolability of housing). The Sunzha District Court, given the state of health of the accused, appointed a measure of freedom restraint for him in the form of house arrest.

Let us remind you that that Marem Alieva, a resident of Ingushetia, disappeared in September 2015. Her sister – Elizaveta Alieva – was recognized to be the suffered party. Elizaveta and her husband had been also kidnapped – on July 10, 2015, but released because of quick response of the police. In March 2016, they expressed the need to transfer the inquiry to Moscow, as Elizaveta continues receiving threats, despite the fact that she is under protection of the state.
