Former IS supporter turns to KBR’s Adaptation Commission

Two suspected militants’ helpers and Aslan Konov, a resident of the Terek District, have lodged their applications to the Adaptation Commission of the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic (KBR); the latter was detained after his attempt to go to Syria. Konov said that "on his way to Syria, he changed his mind and returned home."

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the Adaptation Commission was established in the KBR on January 24, 2012.

According to Zalim Kashirokov, the Minister for Preventing Extremism and Realization of Youth Policy of the KBR, thanks to the assistance of the Commission, courts have passed verdicts not related to deprivation of liberty to two women-residents of the republic – Inna Blenaova and Elvira Khakhundokova.

Mr Kashirokov has noted that the Commission "should be addressed prior to the start of one’s criminal prosecution."

The Adaptation Commission of former militants received an application of Aslan Konov, a resident of the Terek District, who tried in July 2015 to get to Syria, said a source from the KBR’s regional human rights centre. Konov asked the Commission "to help him to return to normal life."
