Analysts treat capturing Lele Tepe height as main Azeri’s’ success

According to Azerbaijani experts, the consolidation of their troops at Lele Tepe height will enable the Azerbaijani Army to develop the offensive on the flat terrain of the NKR, while the capture of the heights near the villages of Talysh and Seisulan has weakened the positions of the Armenian party on the Agdere direction.

The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that at night on April 2, the situation in the Karabakh conflict zone sharply escalated. On April 5, the parties declared an armistice. However, the contradictory statements about the changes in the positions, occupied by the armed forces of the parties, emphasize the instability of the situation around Nagorno-Karabakh.

In the course of the warfare, Azerbaijan tried to take control over the key heights.

The Armenian party has failed to recapture the position occupied by Azerbaijan, Vagif Dargyakhly, the spokesman of the Azerbaijani Ministry of Defence (MoD), has stated. Azerbaijan controls about 500 square meters in the NKR, said, in his turn, Artsrun Ovannisyan, the spokesman of the Armenian MoD.

The Azerbaijani Army "has achieved a significant military advantage," said Uzeir Jafarov, the head of the NGO "Military Journalists". According to his version, already on the first day of the battle, it took "hold of a number of strategic heights in the north of Karabakh, near the village of Talysh."

He has also treated as a success the "liberation of Lele Tepe height in the south of Karabakh." In particular, according to the expert, the consolidation of positions at this height will enable, in the long term, "to liberate the territory of the Fizuli and Jabrail Districts from occupation."
