NKR reports death of 29 soldiers in the conflict zone

On April 1-5, the losses of the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic (NKR) at the contact line with Azerbaijan made 29 dead and 72 wounded persons; and 28 servicemen are considered missing, said the spokesman of the NKR's Defence Army.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that at night on April 2 the situation in the Karabakh conflict zone escalated sharply. Today, the parties have announced an armistice.

The data on the number of victims of the April escalation of the conflict are fragmentary. Azerbaijan has announced the death of 12 its soldiers and one civilian. Armenia has acknowledged the death of 18 soldiers in the warfare. The NKR has announced the death of 20 servicemen and four civilians. According to the United Nations, on April 2 and 3, at least 30 servicemen and three civilians were killed.

As stated by Colonel Victor Arustamyan, the head of the operative division of the NKR's Defence Army, on April 1-5, 29 servicemen were killed on the contact line. According to his story, 72 servicemen were wounded, and other 28 are considered missing.

Speaking about the losses of the Azerbaijani party, the Colonel said, that they amount to over 2000 militaries.

Mr Arustamyan has also said that during the warfare "eight combat posts were re-conquered from the opponent."
