The Yerevan police have detained two men suspected of assassinating Karen Vardanyan, a civil activist and blogger. He was announced as missing since March 17; and his body was found in a garage in Yerevan, the capital of the Republic of Armenia.

As reported today by the press service of the Armenian police, on March 17, Karen Vardanyan, born in 1982, left his home intending to go for a week-long trip to the United Arab Emirates (UAE), and disappeared. Initially, the police department of the metropolitan Malatia District announced Vardanyan wanted. However, on March 30 after the detection of his body, a criminal case was opened under Article 104 of RA's Criminal Code (murder).

On March 31, Arthur Migranyan and Gevork Zograbyan were detained within the inquiry into this case.

"It turned out that on March 17 the above Migranyan and Zograbyan inflicted multiple blows with a blunt object to Karen Vardanyan and killed him; then they hid Vardanyan's body in a garage, owned by Zograbyan," says the statement of the Armenian police.
