Husband of activist Ruzanna Egnukyan demands to open criminal case in connection with his wife's injury
After Ruzanna Egnukyan, an activist of the "Armenian Women's Front", had been injured in a clash with the police, her husband Karo Egnukyan has appealed to the law enforcement bodies.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on March 24, activists of the "Armenian Women's Front" organized a rally in support of political prisoners and blocked Mashtots Avenue in Yerevan. Activist Ruzanna Egnukyan was injured as a result of a clash with the policemen. The police have launched an internal investigation in connection with the incident involving Ruzanna Egnukyan.
The police should institute a criminal case, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was told by Karo Egnukyan. "Ruzanna was not granted victim status," the man has added.
Karo Egnukyan complains about the actions of the police during the protest action held in Mashtots Avenue on March 24, when his wife got an injury to her head and was lying on the pavement, while the policemen were engaged in dispersal of the activists and failed to pay any attention to the injured woman.
Moreover, according to Karo Egnukyan, law enforcers seized Ruzanna's hands and feet and dragged her from the roadway onto the sidewalk. "In case if Ruzanna had a vertebral or neck fracture she could die at place because of such action of the policemen," says Karo Egnukyan.
