DFSB: 22 Adygea residents went to fight for IS
The ranks of Middle East terrorist organizations have been replenished by 22 residents of Adygea. Law enforcement bodies have stopped the fact of recruiting into the "Islamic State' (IS), a terrorist organization, banned in the territory of Russia, in the correctional colony in Adygea, said Oleg Seleznyov, the head of the republic's Department of the Russia's Federal Security Bureau (FSB).
According to his story, the recruitment for the IS was practised by a resident of Central Asia, who is serving his sentence in Adygea. This proved case of the recruitment activity in the interest of the international terrorist organization has already become the eighth in the republic.
"A criminal case under the article 'Public calls to terrorist activities or public justification of terrorism' has been opened against a foreign national, a native of Central Asia. After committing a theft in the territory of Russia, he was sentenced to s short-term imprisonment; and while in colony and having his digital devices, he began his recruiting job," the IA "Adygea Today" quoted Mr Seleznyov as saying on March 28.
He added that, to his knowledge, currently, about 3000 Russian citizens are involved in the warfare in Middle East on the side of international terrorist organizations; as he said, 22 residents of Adygea are at war there.
