Volgograd: people protest against price growth
At the action organized by the CPRF (the Communist Party of the Russian Federation), residents of the city of Volgograd, the town of Volzhsky and a number of rural areas have demanded to stop the growth of prices for food, utilities, and gas services. According to the organizers, the protest action was attended by 300 people.
"There is a severe crisis. We are short of money. We face problems with finding jobs. Wages are small, so we have to look for part-time jobs," the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was told by mechanic Vyacheslav Osadchenko, who took part in the protest action.
According to him, the reasons for the economic crisis are "the irrational actions of the government, the stupid economic policy, and, in general, the inefficiency of the capitalist economy."
In a conversation with the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent, a retired officer, another participant of the protest action, has also stated that he "stands against the economic policy of the authorities."
"The authorities cannot understand that no adequate national defence can be secured without developed economy. In absence of economy, we could be easily conquered. In case if such an economic regime lasts for other 20 years, anyone will be able to take us over with bare hands," said in an interview the retired officer, who preferred to remain anonymous.
