NAC announces two persons killed in Dagestan involved in murdering Imam

The two persons, killed in a special operation in the Khunzakh District of Dagestan, had been involved in attacks on law enforcers and in murders in 2014 of civilians and the Imam of the mosque of the village of Gotsatl, said the Russian National Antiterrorist Committee (NAC).

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on March 11, the counterterrorist operation (CTO) regime was introduced in the Botlikh and Khunzakh Districts of Dagestan. In the shootout in the village of Orota, two people were killed. A source from the MIA of Dagestan said that the casualties were former power agents.

"According to the operative headquarters of the NAC in the Republic of Dagestan, they (the casualties of the CTO in the Khunzakh District, – note of the "Caucasian Knot") had been wanted for the involvement in attacks on law enforcers and in murders in 2014 of civilians and the Imam of the mosque of the village of Gotsatl," the RIA "Novosti" quotes the NAC.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on April 10, 2014, in Dagestan, Magomed Zakaryaev, a Madrassas teacher and Imam, was killed. According to investigators, he could have been killed by members of illegal armed formation (IAFs) because of his religious activities, since he called for struggle against extremism and Wahhabism.
