Abu Umar al-Shishani seriously wounded during airstrikes
Abu Umar al-Shishani (Tarkhan Batirashvili), a native of Georgia and one of the leaders of the terrorist grouping "Islamic State" (IS), was placed in hospital with serious wounds after US airstrikes, said the Syrian Observatory of Human Rights.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the Pentagon declared an airstrike on the Syrian province of al-Hasakah on March 4, with the aim to kill al-Shishani. As a result, he could have been wounded or killed. However, on March 9, Batirashvili's relatives and residents of the Pankisi Gorge of Georgia failed to confirm this information.
Al-Shishani was seriously wounded and taken from the city of Hasakah to the hospital of Al-Raqqa, where he is treated by a doctor-jihadist of European origin, the "Georgia-Online" wrote on March 10 with reference to the AFP.
During the airstrike near the city of Al-Shaddad, only bodyguards of al-Shishani were killed, the TV Channel "Zvezda" (Star) reports.
The "Caucasian Knot" has also reported that the death of al-Shishani had been announced no less than seven times; once his capture was reported, but each time the data remained unconfirmed.
Various sources, including the Russian FSB, have confirmed that militants from Russia are fighting for the "Islamic State", says the document prepared by the "Caucasian Knot": "Caucasians in the ranks of IS (ISIL)".
