Petriashvili refutes version on domestic nature of attack on him
The Georgian oppositionist Alexi Petriashvili has stated that the attack on him could not be of domestic character; thus, refuting the version of the defence of the suspect Levan Mekvabishvili.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the attack on Alexi Petriashvili, the Secretary General of the oppositional "Free Democrats" Party, was committed on February 26. He received gunshot wounds. On March 7, the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) announced the detention of the first suspect, Levan Mekvabishvili. Today, his advocate has stated that the attack resulted from a domestic conflict.
Levan Samushiya, a Petriashvili's advocate, said he had not received the case files yet.
Alexi Petriashvili himself treats the actions of the attackers as an attempted murder. He has stressed that had not known any of the attackers.
Let us remind you that after the attack on Petriashvili, the Georgian opposition condemned the authorities for the revelry of the criminality, stating that the incident highlights the worsening of the crime situation in the country.
