Student detained in Sochi on suspicion of having links with IS

The detainee is a native of Ingushetia and studies at one of Sochi universities.

According to law enforcers, since 2014, the student was engaged in promoting radical religious teachings.

The detainee was persuading two girls, one of whom is also a student at the same university, to join the "Islamic State" (IS) (declared a terrorist organization and banned in Russia), the "Vesti of Sochi" reports.

The student was detained after law enforcers were addressed by parents of one of the girls, who have noticed a change in her behaviour, the "Maks-portal" reports.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on February 16, in Kuban (Krasnodar Territory) two persons were detained on suspicion of links with the IS; they are now being identified.
